Keep in mind that my eternal companion is a "movie-a-holic". Not only does he love movies but he loves watching them again and again. We have a movie library to rival any mom and pop movie shop (minus that R rated of course). And fortunately we have pretty similar tastes in movies. So keep that in mind as you consider today's quote.
"I don't know...fly casual."

No takers huh ?

Actually my mom guessed correctly in an email. This is from one of my Dad's favorite movies, "Quigley Down Under" with Tom Selleck , Laura San Giacomo ( I love her in this movie - she's a hoot as "Crazy Cora")and Alan Rickman (Severus Snape). If you've never seen it, it's worth a 99 cent rental. But if you're headed out to get it don't watch the clip below - it will spoil everything !

Okay Dad, This one's for you !

"I said I never had much use for one.
Never said I didn't know how to use it. "

THE ANSWER

From my beloved Mary Poppins

Someone play along !

So - yes I am up at 3:20am posting. I had a migraine and because I choose awake with no pain (because the medicine has caffeine) over awake and in pain (without the medicine)- I am awake. But as I lie in bed trying to talk myself to sleep, for some reason this idea popped into my head (my best ideas always come in the middle of the night - you be the judge).
My family (as I am sure does yours) frequently quotes favorite lines from movies and then forces the other members to guess the movie and character. I thought it would be fun to post one occasionally and see if we share the same favs. So here is the first one (and no John and I did not go to bed angry - this just happens to be a favorite. Hint - this one is set to music)

"Though we adore men individually, we agree that as a group they're ra-ther stu-pid"

So - you guess at mine and then hit me with your best shot on your blog !

Why do I get involved ?

Okay - so when I saw the little "Piper incident" last night during the convention, I laughed because it was absolutely soooo cute. I of course wanted it on my blog so I immediately went to youtube to find it. It was, of course right there and I posted it because I thought it was so sweet and wanted to share it. Well, as I looked through the different options on youtube one of them said something to the effect of "more odd behavior by one of Palin's daughters" referring to the "hand lick" ! I glanced over it last night not giving it much thought but the word odd was still echoing in my head this morning so I went back to youtube to see if I was remembering correctly. Did someone actually find this darling little girl's actions "odd" ? They did!
Now I realize that I live in Bakersfield and that I'm around little children all of the time so maybe my opinions are slightly warped, but who in their right or left mind could have found this to be odd, or nasty or any of the other words used to describe it by youtube viewers. I was amazed ! So I, of course had to sign up for a youtube account just so that I could reply to a few of these ridiculous comments. (how childish am I? - anonymity gives me such courage !)At any rate - It is what it is! And it is sweet and charming and delightful ! Thank you Piper !

If You Give a Mom 10 Minutes

I wrote this several years ago when my kids were first into the "If you give a Mouse, Moose, Pig . . ." books. My "favs list" reminded me of it and I thought I'd share it. I hope it makes you giggle.
If You Give a Mom 10 Minutes . . .
(based on actual events in my life)
If you give a mom 10 minutes, she will probably use it to go to the bathroom. When she goes into the bathroom she will notice that a child has put an unusually large amount of toilet paper into the toilet. She will need the plunger.

When she goes to get the plunger she will see the toilet bowl cleaner and think to herself that she might as well clean the toilet after she plunges it,

After doing so she will remember that the toilet bowl cleaner should sit a minute before scrubbing so she will scrub the bathroom sink and counter while she waits.

After doing this she will realize that the sponge she used needs to be laundered.

She will take it to the hamper only to realize that it “ runneth over”.
In an effort to make room for the sponge she will empty the dry clothes from the dryer, switch over the wet clothes from the washer and start a new load of wash.

She will need to fold the dry clothes.

As she puts the clean clothes away in the children’s room she will tidy it.
As she puts the clean dish towels away in the kitchen she will remember that the children have not had lunch.

She will fix them sandwiches and begin to clean up after them only to realize that the dishes in the dishwasher are clean and need to be unloaded. She will do this and then rinse the dirty dishes.

The running water will remind her that she has to go to the bathroom and she will think to herself . . .
“If I only had ten minutes ! !”
